Quality engineering is the branch of engineering dealing with the practice and principles of quality assurance and quality control in product and services. In this area, there are no special qualifications or degrees; in fact, only a desire to help people realize their potential to achieve their goals. There are many aspects that quality engineering deals with and some of these are:
Quality engineers work to ensure products, services and materials reach the desired standards. They are responsible for ensuring that products or services meet the expectations of consumers, suppliers and employees.
Engineering organizations, like ASE, have a committee of representatives who specialize in quality engineering. These representatives serve as guides for all aspects of the industry. These members also coordinate industry meetings on quality issues.
The engineering profession includes several engineering disciplines such as material science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, chemistry and so on. It also encompasses other areas such as the environment, health, and safety.
There are numerous associations and institutions for the purpose of educating engineers. There are also engineering colleges that provide courses in engineering. The bachelor's degree in engineering usually takes at least two years.
Although there are several engineering fields to choose from, the most popular ones are mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, computer science and chemistry engineering. Some other areas include biomedical engineering and nanotechnology. organizations offer similar awards and grants for engineering professionals.
The ASE (American Society of Engineering) is a professional organization for engineers. Membership in this organization means having professional experience in engineering and education. Its members have the option of becoming a quality engineer.
There are also engineering associations and publications that help to improve the quality of the products and services offered by companies and organizations. For example, the Engineering Trends publishes newsletters, booklets, catalogs and websites that provide information on topics of concern to engineers.
Professional organizations, including associations, have many meetings and workshops to share information about the latest trends in engineering. Many engineering societies have special events to provide educational presentations.
A quality engineer has the responsibility to assess and analyze the quality of all materials, processes and facilities used in a manufacturing process. They are also responsible for developing quality control procedures for products and equipment.
In order to become a quality engineer, the first step is to obtain an associate's degree in engineering or a bachelor's degree in engineering. The next step is to apply for an exam which will qualify you for a certification. The Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) is a designation that is given to an engineer who holds a master's degree . . . . . . in engineering or its related field.
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers has several professional organizations. The American Society of Civil Engineers is a member of the International Society of Mechanical Engineers. The National Society of Professional Engineers has an Engineering Technicians and Engineers.
