The Operations Associate is often referred to as a secretarial or clerical assistant in a company. In some cases, these individuals are employed by the company's payroll department, but many others are employed directly by the manager or corporate owner. These individuals are often part-time and are hired to perform a variety of clerical duties such as receiving and counting paychecks, taking messages from customers, sending out newsletters and marketing materials, and filing expense reports. Because the person is not actually working for the company directly, many corporations use operations staffs to cover their bases. Many businesses even use operational personnel, also called office or clerical assistants, instead of full-time employees, especially in smaller or mid-size businesses.
Many smaller companies do not have a very large payroll and this means that they must hire staffs to meet their staffing needs. This is where the operation staffs come in. In many cases, operating staffs can be the answer to a company's staffing requirements, because they are often times cheaper than having a payroll department in place.
In many cases, the operations associate will act as a liaison between the company and its clients. For instance, the operations associate might be assigned to help a client in scheduling an appointment with a company or organization. Additionally, many operations staffs will assist the company in marketing and advertising their products and services to their target demographic. The operations associate will usually work as the company's secretarial or clerical assistant, receiving all of the company's mail and faxes, making sure that the customer's information is correct, and filing and handling their expense reports.
An operations assistant can make a real difference in the company's bottom line, since most businesses do not want to hire expensive full-time employee just to keep the payroll costs low. The operations assistant is often times only required for a couple of hours each week and this is enough to ensure that the company is still running smoothly.
When hiring operation staffs, it is important to remember that these individuals should be hard workers that enjoy what they do. Many people do not enjoy doing clerical duties, and it is up to the employer to determine which individual is going to do the job properly and that one can . . . . . . perform their job well.
