The Bachelor of Kinesotherapy degree offers a multi-disciplinary approach to the study of physical motion, which includes the science (physiology, anatomy, motor development and control) as well as the art (i.e., psychology, social sciences, sports medicine) of human motion related to physical therapy, exercise and sport rehabilitation. The Bachelor of Science in Kinesotherapy degree is designed for people who are already employed or working towards a career in the healthcare industry and want to continue their education. This is a two year program that will include the study of physiology as well as anatomy and motor development. It will also offer an overview of kinesotherapy practices and training. During this degree, students will become familiar with the basic knowledge and methods of kinesotherapy, such as massage therapy and body mechanics, as well as the theory and methodology of kinesiology.
The Bachelor of Arts in Kinesophy is a two year program which covers the same content as the Bachelor of Science in Kinesotherapy program. In this degree students will develop an understanding of how kinesotherapy is based on science and how it can benefit patients and the healthcare professional.
The Bachelor of Health Sciences in Kinesotherapy is a one year program that covers the same content as the Bachelor of Science in Kinesotherapy program. In this program students will explore the basic philosophy and methods of kinesotherapy and will learn the role of massage therapy in rehabilitation, diagnosis and treatment. This program also allows students to develop an understanding of physiology and anatomy as well as the basic techniques used in kinesotherapy. The Bachelor of Education in Kinesotherapy will be offered at the completion of this program and students will have an opportunity to complete an internship while in the program.
The Bachelor of Education in Kinesotherapy degree is not offered online. In this program students will study the theories and principles of kinesotherapy as well as the application of these concepts in the clinical setting. The programs teach the skills necessary for massage therapy students to provide massage therapy for adults and children.
The Bachelor of Education in Kinesotherapy program is offered online and covers all of the topics as described above. During this program students will become familiar with the theory and application of kinesotherapy. It will also provide a detailed introduction to anatomy and the basic techniques used in the treatment of patients with musculoskeletal and psychological disorders.
Students can choose from the Master's degree to specialize in specific areas of kinesotherapy. They can specialize in Sports Medicine, Sports Therapy, Sports Education, Sports Medicine, Kinesiography and Sports Therapy. Students also may want to focus their Bachelor of Education in Kinesophy on sports medicine, where they will be prepared to instruct others in the field of sports medicine. Students may also want to specialize in either Sports Therapy or Health Education, and can choose from these specializations.
For those students who wish to study in the Masters of Science in Kinesotherapy, they should first be certified in any of the areas of kinesiology through a recognized institution. After being licensed in the areas of kinesiology they can then enroll in the Bachelor of Science of Kinesotherapy.
Students can choose to become licensed in more than one of the fields offered by the Masters of Science in Kinesotherapy. For example, students can specialize in the areas of Sports Medicine, Sports Therapy, Health Education or Kinesiography. The student can complete both a Masters of Science in Kinesotherapy as well as a Bachelor of Education of Kinesophy and the requirements to obtain the license will differ between each of these courses.
Most colleges that offer online programs for Bachelor of Kinesiology degrees will require students to pass a written exam. If a student has prior training in kinesiology then they may be able to get the Bachelor of Arts in Kinesotherapy without attending the campus-based course.
