The Modern Rules Of Isambard Kingdom Brunel | isambard kingdom brunel

Isambard Kingdom Brunel is a British civil engineer who has been called “perhaps the best known and most prolific innovator of his age” by the Engineering and Science journals. His notable inventions include the railway, the tramway, and the great sewer system that developed in London. King Henry VIII commissioned him to design his first bridge, which he did, but it was not until after his death that he was brought into direct contact with the Queen and Prince Regent. His influence on engineering in general and on London's sewer system in particular has been enormous.

His royal charter was made for him in 1525, but Brunel started designing his projects as far back as 1460. While the Royal Charter allowed him absolute freedom to build and repair, Brunel's reputation as an inventor was in fact responsible for the restriction of his rights. The King was the ultimate authority over the construction project, and could order changes to be made to his design if he found them desirable. His innovations were therefore subject to the approval of his superiors, but were generally left to pass unnoticed.

Isambard King Brunel's life is an interesting one. He was born to a wealthy family of merchants in Oxford, England, and he grew up to become one of the wealthiest men in the country. As well as his wealth, he possessed immense intelligence and was highly regarded in his circles, as well as being a popular academic, a lover of women, and an important patron of art.

Isambard Brunel went to university in Cambridge, and his interests in mathematics and engineering earned him a doctorate degree at the University of London in 1539. During his time at university, he was involved in many debates about the limits of human knowledge. After a disastrous visit to Africa to study engineering, he returned to Oxford, where he began to make practical progress in his engineering interests, and developed a keen interest in civil engineering.

From 1540 to 1544, Isambard King Brunel was active in the development of the sewer system of London. He designed the sewers in London and the sewers of London's suburbs and made major contributions to the London sewer network. He built many new sewers, including the Thames, which was completed in 1549.

After leaving university, Isambard began working for the engineers of the Royal Society of Engineers. {RSE) and then the Royal Institute of Navigation (RIO), both institutions that he helped to found. He later became director of research of RIO. and RSI, but left the RSI in 1553, citing lack of ambition. In addition, he was director of research at the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAE), the institution of higher learning at Cambridge University, and worked on some of the world's most notable engineering works.

As well as inventing the water-laying trams, the tramways and the sewer system, Isambard worked out the principles of civil engineering. During this period, he was also involved in water management and sewage, and was a key player in the creation of the Thames. It was through his research work in this area that he came across the problem of sewer overflow.

In 1550 King Brunel died, and it was his widow that took over the direction of the sewer system. As the responsibility for the King's maintenance of the sewage system became his responsibility, it fell upon him to oversee the construction and maintenance of it. It was while he was in charge of both aspects of sewerage that Isambard developed a concept . . . . . . of 'systems' to help with drainage, and he made it a point to build more sewers to improve the drainage. Today the system is still used in some parts of London, and it is considered an important part of London's drainage system.
