A Bachelor of Arts in Science is an undergraduate degree given for courses that typically last between two to four years. The first school to accept a student for this degree is the University of London in 1960. Today, more than two hundred and forty universities around the world offer Bachelor's degrees in science. Students taking this course have the choice of continuing their education by earning one of several graduate degrees in science.

Students who earn a Bachelor of Arts in Science are given more freedom when it comes to choosing a field of study. Many of these programs take less than two years to complete and many offer minors in other areas of study such as mathematics or chemistry. However, students who want to specialize in a particular area can complete the program with a two-year Bachelor of Science degree.

In order to get a Bachelor's of Arts in Science, students must first earn at least a Bachelor's degree in any other subject. Typically, students choose a field to focus on after they earn a Bachelor's degree. Some students choose to study biochemistry, which deals with living things, while others opt to study earth science, which is concerned with the environment. Another area in which students study is mathematics, because students may find they are better prepared to enter the job market after completing their Bachelor's degree in science. These programs normally last from four to five years and usually require a minimum GPA of 2.5 on all of their college and university classes.

When students take a Bachelor's degree in Science, they typically take classes in math and biology. The student will also take classes in chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer science, and other branches of science that interest them. During the first two years, students will receive general education courses in subjects such as English, history, math, and science. Graduates will take more specialized courses in these areas after graduation.

Once students are done with their Bachelor's degree in science, they may begin to pursue a Master's or doctoral degree through their chosen program. Students who pursue these programs will often work towards earning one of several graduate degrees such as Bachelor of Science in Education, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, or Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

An individual pursuing a Bachelor's degree in science may choose to continue with a Master's or Doctoral degree. Students who complete both degrees will be prepared to go on to a doctorate level. Students who pursue doctorate degrees will take courses in fields such as mathematics, biology, chemistry, and physics, as well . . . . . . as other subjects such as organizational leadership. or psychology.
