Masters in Nursing Education (MNHE) is a course offered by the Department of Health and Human Services for professionals who wish to improve their nursing skills or who want to further their education. This program can be completed over two years in either an online or on campus format.
The Department of Health and Human Services offers four master's degrees that qualify you to enroll in MNHE. They include a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Nursing Practice, Master in Nursing Management and Bachelor of Nursing Education. Once you complete a master degree, you will then be eligible to take up any of the approved nursing positions that the school offers.
All these programs focus on teaching students about nursing and how it affects patient care. Each program also offers clinical training in order to prepare graduates for the role of a nurse practitioner. Students will also be introduced to the theories involved in the field of nursing and medical research, as well as learning how to interact with patients in their daily lives.
These programs also provide a very hands-on approach to teaching, as many of the clinical programs allow students to work in clinics and hospitals on a clinical basis. Courses offered will include anatomy, physiology, basic nursing skills, and basic communication skills. There will also be an internship or clinical experience for students to gain experience before they enter the field of practice.
In order to enroll in an MNHE program you must first be a licensed practical nurse (LPN). This is a special license issued by the United States government that is required for all nursing jobs. After you have been LPN for at least two years, you will have to pass a written exam called the NCLEX-RN. During the exam, students will be asked questions related to nursing theory as well as practical skills.
Before enrolling into an MNHE program you should consider the time commitment and the cost of education that will be needed. Many of these programs are very flexible so that students can finish the program at a pace that works for them. This makes them very appealing to both students who already have a lot of experience and those who want to improve their nursing skills.
Once students complete their MNHE degree they will be able to take the NCLEX-RN test upon becoming licensed. They will then be able to apply for the NCLEX-PN exam, the first step in becoming a nurse practitioner. Students can begin working as a nurse practitioner within six months after completing their training. However, it is important to note that not every state will recognize these nurses as certified nurses in that state.
Masters in nursing education offers many benefits to students who wish to further their nursing career. These courses help students understand the concept of patient care as well as giving students valuable tools for practice.
